The British Council presents Dancing Before the Moon at the 2023 Venice Biennale.
What is the Biennale?
Established in 1895, the Venice Biennale is renowned for setting new global trends and launching the international careers of many pioneering artists and architects.
Each year the British Council commissions an exhibition at the British Pavilion to showcase groundbreaking work from the UK. From J. M. W. Turner to Tracey Emin, over 600 UK artists have exhibited in the British Pavilion since 1909.
About this year’s British Pavilion
For 2023, the British Council has commissioned Dancing Before the Moon. Created by six rising UK artists, the exhibition explores how diaspora community rituals and cultural practices impact built space and how they can thereby shape the future of UK Architecture.
