Meet the 2023 British Pavilion Artists

Runout by Mac Collins

Mac Collins is a British designer and artist who draws on his British Jamaican lineage to create artefacts informed by the stories and experiences of his intertwined community.

In Runout, Mac reminds us of distant and fading ancestries, and the mythologies and narratives formed by generations of Caribbean communities in the UK as they reflect on their position within contemporary British society.

Mac’s British Pavilion work uses ebonised ash timber to create something between an abstracted domino, taken from a game played widely by British Caribbeans, and an unknown living form.

Dancing Before the Moon runs from 20 May to 26 November 2023.

Mac Collins is one of six UK artists commissioned to create Dancing Before the Moon at the British Pavilion.  Click on the links to explore the work of the other five artists.
