As the British Pavilion reaches its closing month, we asked British Council Commissioner Sevra Davis and our 2023 curatorial team to reflect on the experience working on this year’s exhibition for the Venice Biennale. Here’s what they told us:

‘As we prepare to close the doors of the 2023 British Pavilion exhibition, Dancing Before the Moon, I am reminded of the British Council’s mission to build connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and countries around the world.

Our intention for the British Pavilion is not only to showcase dynamic creative thinking from the UK but also to create opportunities for conversation and collaboration, and this exhibition has done just that.’

Sevra Davis, British Council Commissioner

'The response to Dancing Before the Moon has been more than we could have hoped for. We are proud to have built an exhibition that taps into the conscious of so many people and amplifies diasporic stories that have been overlooked from discourse around the built environment. It is testament to the power of exhibitions and working collectively.'
